I don’t have to tell you that this time of year is stressful! Adjusting to the new schedule from the laid-back summer months can bring up a lot of challenges. On top of this, there’s all the beginning of school meetings and events. There are new and unfamiliar relationships and all kinds of stuff to buy. Plus, there is the in-your-face reality of your kids growing up! I find that each new year is a mini-grieving process and a new level of letting go. If you’re going through other major life stressors such as divorce, health issues or job changes then you really deserve some extra TLC!!
On the flip side, it’s a wonderful time of year to return to ourselves, to our truth and to what makes us happy. It’s a great time of year to create new habits and align with new goals. I read something recently (a blog I’m sure) that said “September is the new January” and that’s so true! Setting new goals releases dopamine in the brain and gives us a needed boost to help overcome the grief and stress that I mentioned above. This is a great time of year to do vision boarding-type activities that help you connect with your deeper sense of purpose and your life’s mission.
I, for one, started several new practices that have helped me to transcend the grief and stress of the new year. A few weeks ago, I began an early-riser meditation challenge. Getting up super-early and meditating transforms everything for me. It’s amazing. I’m sure you know about all the benefits of meditation so I won’t go into that here, but suffice it to say, I honestly don’t know how anyone survives without a meditation practice in the shit show that is called modern life!!
Because I believe so deeply in the power of this practice. I’ve created a couple of things that I’d like to share with you.
1. I released a new video series to help you get started. If you already have a practice, they will help you continue, deepen, and get more out of your practice. In these 3 short videos, I share unique strategies that can be done in 3 minutes or less. I’d love for you to check them out! I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from people who were able to calm themselves down in the middle of a crap storm. You can do it too!
2. I’m starting a Monday Morning Mom’s Meditation Group right here at Fletcher Cove. You can find the details on that here. I really hope you’ll come out and try it at least once. I think it’s going to be really fun!
